KJR Kares-A-Thon

CAYA would like to give a big shout out and thank you to KJR including us as a recipient of the recent KJR Kares-a-thon ending on September 21st. This year’s online and live on-air auction raised over $120,000 by offering unique “can’t be bought” experiences like the opportunity to job shadow Seahawks team photographer Rod Mar on the sidelines during a game, or the chance to have dinner with CAYA program graduate and NBA star Brandon Roy.

The KJR Kares-a-thon is an annual tradition benefitting community organizations through the special power of radio to reach tens of thousands with a universal love of sports. The event was founded by former KJR host Mike Gastineau, and focuses on bringing star power to host an all day on-air auction. Over the years the Kares-a-thon had donated over $1 million to charities. Other recipients of the funds raised this year are Northwest Literacy and Eastside Habitat for Humanity.
